Email is the fastest route
I read everything that arrives and reply directly. For anything time-sensitive, WhatsApp or a call works too.
The most useful first message covers four things:
- The operational problem you are trying to solve
- Who the users are, and what they do today
- What already exists — a system, a spreadsheet, or nothing yet
- The timeline you are working against
That is usually enough for me to come back with a realistic scope rather than a generic estimate.
